Vandalia: Magazine for the Modern Mountain Folk
At Ohio University, I completed my masters capstone in the form of a print and digital magazine, entitled “Vandalia: Magazine for the Modern Mountain Folk." The magazine shares the stories of four Appalachian families and their resilience in the hills of West Virginia. All aspects of the project — ideation, creation, photography, reporting, editing and design — are my own original works.
Copywriting & Nonprofit Newsletters
Before joining the West Virginia Community Development Hub as the Chief Momentum Instigator last July, I’d never ventured into the world of nonprofits. Thanks to my time at the Hub, I was able to add another highly-valuable tool to my toolbox. Now, at 100 Days in Appalachia, I write and oversee both of our weekly newsletter series. Each week, I write personal anecdotes that accompany our organization’s original works and republishings. Click to read some of my recent pieces in our series.
