Lexi Browning is a photojournalist located in the heart of Appalachia and the assistant editor for Community Engagement at 100 Days in Appalachia.

Growing up in West Virginia, my culture revolved around storytelling. Coming from an underrepresented region, I entered the field of journalism to ensure that all voices – particularly those of frequently misrepresented or disenfranchised populations – were included in the narrative with fair and accurate representation.

I recently moved back to central Appalachia after completing am internship in visual journalism with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. I received my B.A. in Online Journalism from Marshall University in December 2016, and I expect to defend my M.A. in Visual Communication: Photojournalism later this year.
